“It generated approximately £81m. A lot of that can be reinvested into women’s football and the younger generation.”

⸺Who is Jahnay Tennai?

Jahnay is a Freelance Photographer, supports both Jamaica and Arsenal.

“I’ve been watching women’s football for 2 years. It’s televised. It’s publicised… and has more of a global backing. I have only been watching it for 2 years and i don’t remember seeing women’s football on TV years ago.”

⸺What team/country do you support and why?

So I was born in Islington and raised in North London, so I obviously support Arsenal, and the country that I'm supporting is Jamaica because of my Jamaican heritage.

⸺How long have you been watching women’s football and have you noticed any changes within the sport?

I’ve been watching women’s football for 2 years. It’s Televised. Publicised. Got more of a global backing. I have only been watching it for 2 years and i would say it is a recent thing, as I don’t remember seeing women’s football on the TV years ago.

⸺What impact do you think the 2022 Euros had on women and women’s football in general?

It has inspired a larger audience of young women to become football players. I feel that due to the Euros the support for women’s football has massively increased, due it generating approximately 81 million pounds. A lot of that can be reinvested into women’s football and the younger generation.

⸺What actions do you think could be made to encourage more diverse younger girls to continue playing and support our current players?

I don’t think there is a lack of representation for black and brown players in the World Cup. But I do feel like there is a lack of representation for women in the premier league. Clubs not to invest in players from other backgrounds. It’s as simple as that really.

How do you view the future of women's football?

I view the future of women’s football to be progressive. Due to the amount of support it’s getting now. More media coverage, the amount of women that want to be come players now and the amount of money it’s generating now.
